Love Gone Wrong: Hubballi Man Stabs Mother of Young Woman, Police Shoot to Stop Escape
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: In a shocking incident in Hubballi’s Lohia Nagar on Wednesday evening, a young man stabbed the mother of a young woman following a brief altercation. The assailant, identified as 25-year-old Mahesh Meti from Ramalingeshwar Nagar, had visited the victim’s home to seek permission to marry her daughter, expressing his love for her.
During the visit, a verbal dispute ensued between Meti and the victim, Neela Hampannavar, which escalated quickly. Meti stabbed Neela with a knife before attempting to flee the scene. Local residents tried to intervene, but he reportedly threatened them and managed to escape.
According to the sources, the police were alerted and initiated a pursuit of the suspect and nabbed him. Meti attacked the officers when they took him to him to a place claiming that he would show his friends, prompting them to open fire. He sustained a bullet injury to his left leg as a result. Additionally, Old Hubballi Police Inspector Suresh Yallur suffered injuries during the incident, said sources.
Neela has been admitted to KMC-RI for medical treatment, and further details regarding the incident are still emerging as the investigation continues.
Sources said, the accused had borrowed loan of Rs 20,000 from friend, preparing to execute the crime.
